The Nokia N80 was a cell phone the company released that was quite popular with customers. As with any new form of technology, Nokia released a better version not long after. This new version is known as the Nokia N80IE or Internet Edition. The two phones have the same features, but the IE has better software, which makes looking at things online or surfing the web look better. Luckily, you can easily turn your Nokia N80 into the Nokia N80 Internet Edition with just a little work.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Cell phone
• Computer
• USB cable
• Internet access

1. Step 1

   Download the Nokia Software Updater and Nokia PC Suite by visiting the official website. This software is free of charge. Simply follow the directions when prompted.

2. Step 2

   Back up the files on your Nokia N80 because this process will remove all files from your phone. You can do this by saving the information to your SIM card.

3. Step 3

   Connect the USB cable to your cell phone and plug it into your computer. Make sure that your phone is on the charger and the SIM card is inside before proceeding.

4. Step 4

   Select the PC Suite button on your cell phone. Your computer should recognize the new software attached.

5. Step 5

   Run the software updater that you downloaded previously by clicking on the icon on your desktop. This program will automatically download the updates onto your cell phone, but continue to follow the prompts when given.

6. Step 6

   Watch for your Nokia phone to reboot and return your factory settings such as date and time. Now your old Nokia N80 is a fully working Nokia N80ie.

The emergence of Nokia N-series mobile phones is a boon to the people who love to have everything at their fingertips. Right from good connectivity to web access, from imaging experience to music-the Nokia N-series give you all the pleasures of latest mobile telephony. Video recording, video playing, video streaming, video calling ( with the help of the second camera at the front ), stereo music player, visual FM radio, email etc are all available with the Nokia N95.

The powerful and terrific Nokia N97 is yet to be released. The Nokia N97 is said to have got a 5 megapixel camera with 20 x digital zoom, auto focus, flash and Carl Zeiss Optics Tessar lens. For the music lovers, the Nokia N97 is going to be a priceless possession as it has got a massive 20GB internal memory. Rest of the features are more or less same with the Nokia N93 and N95.

If you’re curious about Nokia’s newest multimedia flagships, the Nokia N97 and N86, and undecided as to which one to get, or how they size up next to each other, then here is a nice picture Gallery for you. Many people have been wondering about the design and material quality of these new Nseries, given how cheap the old N96/N78/N85 family felt, but these images should let you feel assured that the newer line is much more elegant, solid, nice to the touch, and feels a lot more expensive in the hand. Another concern for some people has also been the size of the N97. Showing it next to the N86, a small pocketable dual-slider, proves that the N97 is a whole lot smaller in the hand than it is on the press release images.

The N97 of course is an S60 5th edition handset that boasts a humongous 3.5″ touchscreen with a qwerty keyboard, whereas the N86 is an S60 3rd Edition FP2 device that follows the N95’s dual-slider design, with a relatively small 2.8″ non-touch OLED screen and adds the awesome 8 MegaPixel wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens camera. The N86’s kickstand also allows you to put the N86 on a desk at almost the same angle as the N97’s screen when the hinge tilts, which shows in the pictures

Both handsets come with bluetooth, 3G, an FM-transmitter, GPS, TV-Out, a 3.5mm headset jack and microUSB charging. The N97 prides its 32GB internal memory, whereas the N86 only has 8GB of internal memory, both being expandable with a microSDHC slot.

NOKIA N-Series

Nokia Nseries is a product family consisting of multimedia smartphones. These are mobile devices supporting digital multimedia services such as music playback, video capture, photography, mobile gaming and Internet services. All Nseries devices support at least one high-speed wireless technology, such as 3G, or Wireless LAN.

Features

The Nokia Nseries is aimed at users looking to pack as many features as possible into one device. The better-than-average cameras often found on Nseries devices (with many using the higher-quality Carl Zeiss optics) are one such example, as are the video and music playback and photo viewing capabilities of these devices, which resemble those of standalone portable media devices.

In all recently launched devices GPS, MP3 player and WLAN functionality also have been present.

Operating Systems

The first Nseries device, the N90, utilised the older Symbian 8.1 OS, as did the N70. Subsequently Nokia switched to using SymbianOS 9 for all later Nseries devices (except the N72, which was based on the N70). Newer Nseries devices incorporate newer revisions of SymbianOS 9 that include Feature Packs.

The N800 and N810 internet tablets are the only Nseries devices to not use Symbian OS. They use the Linux-based Maemo.^[4].
